Friends of the Freshmen!
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!
We haven't updated this much due to the tour log but that's over now so this is the place for all AOF info and man do we have some!
First off as we speak THE ARMY OF FRESHMEN are relaxing for the holidays after the great December Tour - read the tour log (the final recap entry is up) for way too much info on it.
Great news though this month The Army of Freshmen have a two page interview and cd review in SKRATCH MAGAZINE! Skratch is a great indie music mag you find for free at music stores all over Southern California and randomly in a few other states like NY, TX, AZ, NJ, IL, MA, PA and NV. It's mainly in Cali though. Best of all the bands featured in it are listed on the cover by alphabetical order which means we're FIRST. The interview came out great (we'll get it typed for you) and the review blew our minds. Go find it or wait a week or so and we'll post it for you.
As for 2003 - it's gonna be a kick ass year. As discussed in the tour log AOF will be hitting the road full time in April. We're planning on 5 straight months of touring all over the country. With that said we'll be in Cali and close by for the first three months of the year as we stock pile money for April.
Happy to say though - we already have some Cali dates to announce!
Already posted for January and February are shows in Ventura, Lancaster and San Luis Obispo and also we are heading up to Oakland for our first show there! To top it off some of these dates are with our friends, YELLOWCARD! Expect more shows coming in Bakersfeild, Anaheim, San Diego, Fresno and Sacramento for starters - got a show you want us on - email us and let us know!
Also want you to know that if you haven't gotten an email from us lately don't worry - we didn't send any while on tour. We have a LOAD of new names to input so once we get that done expect a mail the first week of JANUARY.
Till then - feel free to drop us a line at info@armyoffreshmen.com or email anyone in the band individually. We try to answer all mails.
Also - if you're not on it - don't you think it's time to join the A TEAM (our street team) - the TEAM will kicked into high gear come 2003 and we need YOU to help spread the rock.
So that's whats up for now - check back constantly here where we will be posting the big and small happenings on THE ARMY OF FRESHMEN.
your homies back from the road,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike

Now a question often asked is “Where the hell do you guys sleep and shower when on the road?” Well the answer is not always a pretty one but with your help - sometimes it’s a little easier. If you can provide a floor, shower or something in between in any of the above cities or near by - we would love to hear from you - email chris@armyoffreshmen.com with the details. Come on - who doesn’t want six guys rooting through their cd collection and refrigerator? Honestly though - we’re clean, appreciative and respectful if you have roommates or parents and above all always up for a good party!
Also… up now on the TOUR DATES section of the site is a wish list of items we’re always glad to get on at a show. Remember this isn’t a low budget tour - this is a NO budget tour. Meaning anything means everything.
Well - we’re all so excited - we can hardly wait! If you want to help promote any of the above shows - you should join the street team and or email ateam@armyoffreshmen.com
Also - we are glad to announce that the often asked about TOUR LOG will return for this tour. Email info@armyoffreshmen.com with any and all comments and most importantly have a great Thanksgiving and be cool to the family – even if the suck - one day out of the year won’t kill you. : > )
Check back soon and we’ll keep you up on the developments as they happen - so excited to see all of you out there in frozen country!

Friends of the Freshmen!
First things first - Lancaster went off. It was quite possibly one of the most insane AOF shows ever. There was no room on stage cause for 40 straight minutes there was nothing but stage divers. The night also featured one of the biggest Braveheart pits yet, shoes flying in the air and Chris’ final stage dive off a kid’s back! Close to 400 people showed up to see AOF and Pulley and it so went off! Wish everybody could have been there.
Had a great time in Fresno and Bakersfield too but - LANCASTER was just sick!
This weekend - we return to The Don in Visalia (close to Fresno). The last Don show was a lot of fun and we’re excited to be back this Friday, Nov. 15th with Junction 18 and more. Show starts @ 7pm and we hope to see Visalia back in the house! For info call 661-635-8175. The Don is located at 650 S. Bridge St.
Also we will be back in LA at The Hard Rock on Thursday, Nov. 21 - more on that next week but we want to get the word out early….
So the Mid West is being booked as we speak and we are stoked! We want to thank everyone who emailed suggestions - we’ve already scored shows based off your help so thank you! Remember AOF is booking this tour on their own so if they can’t get a date in a certain state - they have to skip it! Visit www.armyoffreshmen.com to see what’s booked so far.
Right now we need help in Kansas, Indianapolis, Chicago, Ohio, Texas and New Mexico - so if you know some bands, venues or promoters to contact email chris@armyoffreshmen.com
Thanks so much for your emails - it’s great to hear from everybody and if you want to contact us just send it to info@armyoffreshmen.com
Remember you can sign up for our street team, THE A TEAM on our site - now’s a good time with the Mid West tour coming up.
Long Live Lancaster!

Friends of the Freshmen!
Viva Las Vegas! Thanks so much to Sugarcult for bringing us along. It was an amazing outdoor show with hundreds of great kids going nuts! Aaron had a stage diver smash into his guitar and take a chunk out of it and Chris had all the bracelets (7 to be exact) ripped off his arms while stage diving. It was just awesome. Greetings to all the great new people we met there - can’t wait to come back!
Ok - we’ve got some news for you out of CA. fans - but first to this weekend’s amazing line up of the rock.
This Friday Night, Nov. 8th we’ll be at The Starline in Fresno, CA with our friends Mode #. The show is all ages and starts at 8pm. For info call 559-485-7517. Hope to see some of you Fresno Staters in the house!
Then Saturday, Nov. 9th we’ll be back at Jerry’s Pizza in Bakersfield, CA. with PULLEY! This show should be insane. It starts @ 7 but it’s Jerry’s so look for us closer to 9. For info call 661-635-8175.
Last but not least Sunday, Nov. 10th we return to Lancaster @ The Cedar Center when we rock another night with PULLEY. This is like an all day fest thing starting @ 4pm. Look for us sometime after 7pm. The Cedar Center goes off - call 661-635-8175 for info.
Ok - here’s the BIG news. THE ARMY OF FRESHMEN are happy to announce they’ll be touring in the Mid West and South West this DECEMBER! It’s the worst time to tour in the Mid West so we decided it sounded like a great idea. Let’s freeze to death together!
Here’s the details - we are booking the tour ourselves so we need your help. If you know an all ages venue (colleges, small clubs, rec halls, skate parks) or know a band or a promoter we should contact in your area (Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinios, Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, New Mexico, Texas, Arizona) let us know! Email chris@armyoffreshmen.com with the details.
As dates are confirmed we will post them on the site. We’ve already got a couple of shows lined up – visit tour dates to see where we’re definitely coming and make those plans in advance. Chances are we’ll only be doing a date or two in each state and maybe even missing a state or two if we can’t find a room - so your help and driving is appreciated! Keep checking back as new shows are announced! We’ll also need help promoting these shows so join THE A TEAM now to get the updates!
Got questions? Need answers? Email info@armyoffreshmen.com
Thanks as always for your support.

Friends of the Freshmen!
Thanks to all who made it out to the Troub on an early Tuesday Night. We brought the rock despite Mike smashing in a kick drum head after the second song! After a quick recovery we proceeded to give our all to the early bird crowd - fun time - thanks to all.
Now this weekend - lock up the daughters mom cause the Army is headed to Vegas! That's right your favorite keyboard popsters will take over Sin City when we play an all ages show with our friends Sugarcult!
The show is this Saturday, Nov. 2nd at The Castle in Henderson, NV. (right outside of Vegas) Show starts at 7pm - AOF around 9. It's all ages and for info you can call - 702-568-ROCK. What can we say? Everytime us and Sugarcult get together it's friggin insanity so we expect no less for this show - stoked to make some friends in Nevada and hopefully a few of you will make a serious road trip!
BIG NEWS IN ON THE WAY - so keep posted here!

Friends of the Freshmen!
Thanks to all the great folks we met at Fresno State last weekend. We got to enjoy such college pastimes as sleeping in a dorm (thanks Stephanie!) and rocking a party at a dirty, beer soaked frat house. Not too shabby for a Friday! Thanks to the band 360 for having us. On to this week…
Friday Night we’ll be playing a private event and Saturday night, October 26th we’ll be at our old over 21 haunt Bombay’s in Ventura. Show starts at 10 and if you’re over 21 come on down and hang. Bombays is located on 43 California St. in downtown Ventura. For info call 805-643-4404.
Now we want to fill you in on our just announced show @ The Troubadour in LA. We’ll be playing next Tuesday, October 29th w/ Limit Point and Summerville (ex Save Ferris). We’ll be opening the show at 7:30 and doors are at 7:00. We need AOF fans in the house! Tickets are $8 but we’ll have a discount ticket list to get in for only $6. So if you can make it (and we hope you can) email chris@armyoffreshmen.com with the full names of who you need on the list and we will hook you up! It’s a school night but it’s early so start making plans and spread the word.
In other news… Chris’ long requested AIM screen name has been put up on the site. If you can find him - let the beating begin.
Thanks as always for your support - big announcement coming next week - stay tuned!

Friends of the Freshmen!
Huge thanks to the near sell out crowd Sunday for our headlining show at The Livery Theater in Ventura. Words can’t describe - if you were there you know. The show was amazing. Crowd surfers, mosh pits, pogo sessions, make out battles (not one but two lucky couples made out for a full song!) and the debut of 2 brand new songs - “No Engine” and “On The Night The Broadwalk Died”. It was just a great, great night! We especially want to send a shout out to all the kids who drove as far as Bakersfield, Lancaster, Orange County and San Luis Obispo. It means so much us. The night was a full on Army of Freshmen session that won’t be forgotten until the next time… when it’s even better!
This weekend AOF goes to college with a FREE on campus show at Fresno Sate with 360 and The Fall Outs. AOF will be playing around 8pm. For info call 559-307-4846.
As for shows - man do we have some awesome ones just announced including dates with Sugarcult (in Las Vegas!) and Pulley! In the next month or so we’ll making our return to Fresno, San Diego, Bakersfield, Fresno, Visalia, Lancaster and more! So head over to WWW.ARMYOFFRESHMEN.COM and check out the tour dates!
In other news - last weekend we recorded all of the tracks for our second record. Relax - they’re just preliminary demos of our new songs but they came out great. So the next step is start getting them out to producers and labels and seeing who’s interested. Bottom line is in 2003 there will be a new Army of Freshmen record. We will keep you posted.
Can’t wait till then? Head over to www.mp3.com/aof to listen to a demo version of one our new songs “Action Figure”. Then drop us a line at info@armyoffreshmen.com and let us know what you think. Remember – you write the Army - we write back!

This week we'll be demoing some new songs in the studio! That means we are one step closer to getting new music out to you. Granted there's a lot of steps but at least the process has begun. We'll keep you posted on the developments.
Still need your weekly AOF fix? Of course you do. Well you're in luck because we will be hosting THE ROCK REVOLUTION this Saturday Night, Oct. 5. The Rock Revolution is a radio show on 95.9 FM. If you live in Ventura County and Santa Barbara County you can listen live on the air. If not - don't worry! Anyone can listen on line at www.errorfm.com. We'll be on the air at 11pm West Coast time (that's 2am for you east coasters!) We'll be hanging and talking and of course spinning some good jams. Check it out!
Now for some info on the BIG hometown show Sunday, Oct. 13th @ The Livery in Ventura. San Diego was awesome too especially with the posse of opening bands like Mormon In The Middle who kept the small crowd rocking out! Friends of the Freshmen!
We want to extend a BIG thank you to all of you who came out to the shows last week! Every single one was a blast (although it got pretty late in Bako) and we met so many cool people.
It was awesome to roll up to Fresno for our first time and have people in AOF shirts. Great feeling. Super props to the A TEAMERS who made homemade AOF shirts and buttons! Becca and Sara-you guys rock! That's not even mentioning the cookies, jerky and mix cds we got! Best of all was just getting to see some old friends and make new ones. The highlight of any show for us aside from the rock is hanging out and talking to everyone. Please don't be shy - come say hi next time you're at a show.
Extended thanks to The Bako Posse and Mode # for providing much needed housing. We took over Mode # headquarters and went jock for a violent 3 on 3 basketball. Unfortunately Aaron's mutant tall ass provided for the East Coast super powers of Chris and Mike to be served a beating. In fact Chris got a fat lip from Aaron.
To the kids in Lancaster - you guys know how to work the pit. Bottom line. Plus you almost saw Chris mace a skinhead not too bad for 6 bucks!
Only bad thing about the weekend was getting a flat on the way home, some ass clown stealing our friend's gear and Onés "food poisoning". Kids - be in no hurry to munch the curry!
Just good times folks... how bout some more?
This week we end the summer with an AMAZING show when we return to the Anaheim House of Blues to open for SAVE FERRIS! This show will be amazing. It's SATURDAY, AUGUST 31st and we reccomend making the drive. It's in an awesome Disneyland area and HOB is just one of the best places to see a show. Tickets are on sale now at Ticketmaster and will be at the door - call first though to be sure. Make sure you're up front and ready to rock cause AOF is set to throw down hard and that's a promise.
Now for something everybody can be at - THE 2nd EVER AOF CHAT. It'll take place in the YAHOO CLUB and you have to member of the CLUB to participate but it takes like 2 minutes to join. It's going down Tuesday, Sept. 3rd 6pm West - 9 East. All of AOF should be in the chat room answering questions and just having a good time. It'll be a great place to meet other fans. So join now and spread the word!
New shows added in San Luis Obispo, San Diego, Goleta and more - check TOUR DATES!
you guys rule - seriously.

Friends of the Freshmen!
We had a blast at last week’s shows in Paso Robles and LA. The IPO Fest was a really awesome time and we met a lot of great people. We were a little bummed that it was only going to be a 20 min. set but it turned out to a short but full on rocking show! Thanks to the fans who made us sock bracelets and brought us beef jerky - it means more than you know!
This weekend we’re doing two low key over 21 shows - FRIDAY, AUGUST 9th @ The Sherman Oaks Lounge in Sherman Oaks, CA. and SATURDAY, AUGUST 10th @ Bombay’s in Ventura, CA. For info on either of these shows check the tour dates on our site. We apologize for these shows not being all ages but we need to make our van payment so we can keep coming to see you guys and girls in other towns and these shows should help that cause. With that in mind… we are lining up some great shows for the end of summer and fall - so far here’s what we got for ya…

Friends of The Freshmen!
THE FAIR WAS AWESOME! Thanks to all who showed up. Despite some uptight security not ready for a rock show - justice prevailed with mass pogos and sing alongs. We had a blast. The Rock, Paper, Scissors fight ruled!
Tonight it's back up to PASO ROBLES - I feel like I live there. We'll be at the Boys and Girls Club and it should be a great time - so if you're Santa Maria and up - be there! Info is at Tour Dates.
Then Saturday, August 3rd we're at the Knitting Factory in LA. A lot of people have asked about this show and the deal is it's a Pop Fest with like 7 bands but they all rock - SMILE, THE ROSENBERGS, SAY ANYTHING and more! Unfortunately... everybody plays a real short set - 20 minutes - we're on at 10pm - if want to find some new awesome bands be there but like I said short sets - info is at tour dates! All ages too!
I love being in this band and I thank everybody who comes out to see us or just spreads the word if they can't make it - THANK YOU.

Our 4 day run at The California Mid State Fair was a great time - we saw a lot of real cowboys, a few of us rode an electric bull and Chris dropped an AOF cd on an unsuspecting Cameron Diaz while she was buying a funnel cake with her boyfriend “the dude from My So Called Life”. It was an eventful week by anyone’s standards. The rock rolls on this week…
WEDNESDAY, JULY 31st The Army of Freshmen kick off The Ventura County Fair at 8pm on the Pepsi Stage! A hometown show complete with rides, livestock and taco cones - do you want to miss this? WARPED TOUR RULED!!! Words can't describe what an absolutely amazing show it was for us last Friday. Big thanks to everyone who took time out of their day to see us. Extra big thanks to everyone who caught Chris when he dived off the top of the PA! Last but not least thanks to everyone who stopped by our booth to get a 1 dollar punk rock haircut - we hope none of you got grounded.
We refuse to rest on our laurels and the good fight moves on this week...
FRIDAY, JULY 19th, AOF returns to the SAN DIEGO area when they play JUST JAVA with our good friends on tour from Chicago, Split Habit. JJ is located in Chula Vista and the all ages show starts @ 7pm. Please drag some friends and make the trip for the start of the AOF attack on San Diego! For info 619-585-0235. Should be a fun intimate show and we'll see if any of the hundreds of people we flyered at the SD Warped show up!
The following night SATURDAY, JULY 20th we return to Bombays in Ventura for an over 21 show with Split Habit. Stop by @ 10pm if you're of age and see us and our friends have a blast on stage! For info - 805-644-4403.

Forget the introductions... let’s get to the rock...
1. Thursday, July 11th @ Chain Reaction in Anaheim w/ Ultimate Fakebook and Limbeck! If you’re not going to day 2 of the LA Warped - you do not want to miss this show. We’re up first - so get there early @ 7pm. This is the power pop show of the summer and we hope to see some of you new AOF fans from the House of Blues show last month! Tix will be avail. @ the door. If you need more info call 714-635-6067.
2. Friday, July 12th WARPED TOUR @ Seaside Park in Ventura! This is our only Warped date this year so you have no other choice but to be there! We’ll be on The Ernie Ball Stage - we won’t know our set time till the day of so look for posters and or come check with us at our tent which will be by the Ernie Ball stage. Here’s a great chance to drag a friend to see AOF. Stop by, hang out and while you’re at it catch some of the best bands on the planet all in the same day.
3. Saturday, July 13th NO GENRE FEST @ Ojai Woman’s Club in Ojai. We’ve gotten a lot of emails asking about this - It’s an all day show with like 20 bands including The Return, Jank 1000, The In Force and more! It starts @ 4 but we’ll be playing around 8 (get there then to be safe). For those who don’t know Ojai is a cool little town and this should be a really fun, intimate show. For more info call 805-984-0586. Tix will be avail. @ the door. Try something new!
In good news...
The past couple of shows have just been amazing - big thanks and welcome to everybody who joined the list at The Core Tour, The House of Blues and Livery shows w/ Sugarcult and Jerry’s Pizza with Rufio! We met some awesome people and had a great time - hope see you all soon!
In bad news...
The AOF concert and picnic on July 28th in Ventura Harbor has been canceled! Turns out the concert series there has had some trouble with whining merchants who think it hurts sales. With the size of the crowd expected to be at the AOF show - the promoter decided it was safest to cancel it now rather than have trouble on the day of the show. So hopefully that’s even one more reason to catch us at Warped or at The Ventura County Fair.
Keep those emails coming - info@armyoffreshmen.com - we answer all mails. Also if you’d like to help the cause join our street team - THE A TEAM!

NEWS - 6/20/2002
Friends of the Freshmen,
Another cruel blow in the battle of the Warped Tour was served to The Army of Freshmen today when we were offered 2 more dates on the tour! Sounds great right? As fate would have it though they were in Calgary, Canada & St. Louis, Missouri. Due to financial reasons (as in no gas money) we had to turn down the offer. URGH!!! So instead of reacting to this bad news by shooting up my neighborhood’s stop signs with a bb gun, I have opted to write this news update about the great shows this weekend…
This Saturday, June 22 The Army of Freshmen will be at THE CORE TOUR in Venice Beach, CA. What’s the Core Tour you ask? It’s a FREE Extreme Sports and Music Festival on the beach! AOF will be playing at 4pm and we want to see you make a trek out to the ocean. I mean it’s free for crying out loud plus they’ll be a ton of other great stuff to see there! Who doesn’t like to watch people fall on skateboards. Should be a great time - we were at one of last’s year’s Core Tours and it was a blast. Check out www.coretour.com for more details.
Then this Sunday, June 23 the first of 2 shows with our homies Sugarcult will go down. The first one’s at The Livery Theater in Ventura, CA. The show starts at 7pm and also features Audio Karate. The Livery is small, Sugarcult is big and it’s our hometown so… this show will sell out at the door - you can do two things, 1. Buy your ticket in advance at www.blackbirdworldempire.com or 2. show up early (5pm) and buy one before doors open. We can’t tell how much fun it’s going to be at such a small venue. We want to see all AOF fans up front singing along. So get your tix!
To close out the bad ass weekend this Monday, June 24 we take over THE HOUSE OF BLUES in Anaheim (Disneyland baby!) with Sugarcult, Audio Karate, Mind Driver and Death on Wednesday! AOF is first at 7pm! Doors are at 6pm so PLEASE show up early and allow time for traffic and parking. This show will also sell out at the door so 1. Get tix @ www.ticketmaster.com or get there early. Of course get up front and sing along! This is AOF’s 2nd time at an HOB and we are stoked. Put together the great bands and great sound and this show will rock! If you’re in OC - don’t miss it!
Now a few other things…
1st. THE A TEAM (our new street team) is growing by leaps and bounds - if you’re on it be sure to come up to the merch booth at any of the above shows for… well… something entirely too cool. If you’re not on THE A TEAM - you should take this time to join.
2nd. Be sure to download our new song “MTV” at www.mp3.com/aof and spread the word about the FREE mp3s to all your friends who are too cheap to buy the cd! : > )
3rd. Our Merch section is totally updated with photos and paypal! So why don’t you start the summer out with a snazzy new AOF T SHIRT to wear - be sure to see our new buttons too!
Big thanks to all for your support – feel free to email us at info@armyoffreshmen.com with any questions about the band, upcoming shows or just quality dating advice.
fighting the good fight,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, One’, Mike

A new era has dawned. Is there finally peace in the Middle East? No, not quite. Did George Lucas find a decent actor to play Anakin Skywalker. Hell no! Did AOF find out if they’ll be on the Warped Tour? No, not yet. Then what is it you ask?
Our site has a new look!
That’s right. We know. We know. Don’t let those tears of joy fall into your laptop. Dan and Owen have labored long and hard to bring a new look to the site. You'll find all the great site features you have come to love - news updates like this one, tour dates, ventings (essays by different band members), band member’s email and AOL IM names, lyrics, the story behind the lyrics (!), the story behind AOF’s early demos (which is like a history of the band), links to all the AOF fan sites and now not 1 but 2 AOF Yahoo Groups where you can go to meet other fans!
Email dan@armyoffreshmen.com and owen@armyoffreshmen.com with your thoughts, hopes and dreams for the little site with the big heart and the unpaid graphic designers.
Ok. Shows! Tonight the rock descends upon Bakersfield, CA. with a fury rarely seen. We will be back at Jerry’s Pizza today - Saturday, May 25. It’s all ages and the show starts @ 8pm and also on the bill is old school punk legends The Dickies and new school pop punkers Never Heard Of It along with some local bands. (AOF and The Dickies - seems weird but oh well!) Our last show there rocked so we hope to top it - if you’re in Bako or if you’re up for a drive - we’ll see ya there! Check the tour dates for more info.
Speaking of tour dates - we got added to not one but two great shows with Sugarcult in June! The first is Sunday, June 23rd @ The Livery Theater in Ventura and the second is Monday, June 24th @ The HOUSE OF BLUES in Anaheim. These shows will sell out so buy tickets in advance - go to blackbirdworldempire.com for the Ventura show or got to ticketmaster for the Anaheim one. We need AOF fans in the house for these - so get your tix now!
Thanks to all who posted a message at www.warpedtour.com - keep it up and maybe we’ll see some results!

Yo, yo, yo...
Sorry to all who were messed up over the cancelation of the LA City College show. Sometimes the wacky world of rock doesn't always work out they way one would hope. It was great to play out in Palm Desert though and HI to our new fans out there!
This weekend we head in land again to make our triumphant return to Jerry's Pizza in Bakersfield! The show is this Saturday Night and also on the bill is old school punk legends The Dickies (pretty weird). It's all ages and starts at 8pm. Hope to see some of you Lancaster peeps make the drive.
We have some killer June shows we're getting ready to announce - so keep posted here - alas still no final verdict on Warped - as Tom Petty said, "the waiting is the hardest part".

NEWS - 5/7/2002
Hey Homies!
Greetings from AOF headquarters. Nice to have a weekend off for the first time in two months but there is no rest for those who rock so we'll be back at it this Wednesday, May 8th for a free college show at UC Riverside - it's private (but it isn't) so if you live in the area come on out. We'll be playing outside at 6 pm and they'll be free food!
Also we just confirmed a show in Atascadero, CA. on the 17th - Atascasdero is right above San Luis Obispo so we want to see all you cool kids who were at the Sugarcult show there! It's benefit for a local music program and we'll be playing with two other local bands. The follwing day Saturday the 18th we'll be doing a FREE LA show at LA City College at 1pm - so of course you should come out and kick in the sun with us! That night we'll be rocking the old heads at Bombays so if you are over 21 - be there.
Meanwhile if you're craving for more AOF in your life check out www.popzineonline.com where you can find a brand new Army of Freshmen interview - be warned - they ask a lot of wacky questions-so it's not your average interview. Also be sure to get a good look at the banner on the main page - it's AOF's own Mike Rini along with a line of kids - it's so cool - I put on my desk top.
As for all those questions about AOF on the Warped Tour this summer - we'll be honest - we still don't know and YES it's pissing us off as much as you - say a prayer, bomb a message board - hopefully something will work. As soon as we get a YES or NO - we'll let you know!
your brothers in rock,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike
PS. New bomb squad coming soon!
NEWS - 4/29/2002
Ok. This past weekend's shows were some of the best we EVER played. The shows with Sugarcult in SLO and Lancaster were just amazing. You couldn't ask for a better crowd. They were totally energetic and postive and it was a real honor to be there. I mean it's not every day Aaron can stage with his guitar on and not get dropped. It was a friggin blast. A bonus for me was getting totally swarmed in the pit almost about to be mushed to death and this amazing looking girl picked me up and pushed back onto stage. It was like a Lifetime movie "In The Pit - A Love Story". Ok - I'm rambling... what else? Oh yeah - we've said it before but Sugarcult and Fairview are awesome bands and people - it was great to get to hang with them again. Big hellos to all the cool people we got to meet at the shows - I'll play in those two towns till my face falls - hopefully we'll be back soon! The two shows with Yellowcard were cool too - good to see those guys again and all our local hardcore homies - props as always but after SLO and Lancaster - it's hard to live up to that!
So what's up next? Well be taking a long deserved weekend off after our busiest April yet but we're in the process of booking a few shows in May - check the tour dates - we'll be doing a FREE afternoon weekend show in LA on the 18th along with a FREE afternoon college show in Riverside on the 8th - plus a show I'm really stoked about our return to Bakersfield on the 24th!
Also in the works is THE BOMB SQUAD. Now let's face it the old Army of Freshmen street team is a mess - so we're going to start all over - look for details soon. Yes that does mean you'll have to sign up again (NOT YET!) but at least we can rid of those slackers and really get things moving! We have much spreading of the word to do this summer!
thanks again to everybody who came out this weekend - hope to see you again!
your pumped on SLO and Lancaster homies,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike otherwise known as THE ARMY OF FRESHMEN!

NEWS - 4/23/2002
Greetings!
Well it was an interesting weekend of shows for us - remind us never to play a pre 4:20 festival again - let's just say the stoner frat scene didn't quite know what to make of the old Army of Freshmen - the fact we weren't screaming "who's got the herb?" every 5 seconds probably didn't help us much but we didn't want to fake it. If you could see past the clouds of weed - we really played a great show! It's all good though - seeing all our friends at Bombays on Saturday and playing to a small but awesome crowd at Chain Reaction on Sunday was worth it! Met some great new bands (props to Face The Fact) and great people too - Mind Driver merch girls we apologize for the guest list mix up.
Ok... onto the week we've been wating for! This Friday, Saturday and Sunday are three shows that you don't want to miss. Now I know what you're thinking - Chris - you always say that - well this time I mean it. We are playing w/ some AWESOME bands. Here's the details...
FRIDAY, APRIL 26th @ TRINITY HALL in SAN LUIS OBISPO, CA.
w/ SUGARCULT, YELLOWCARD and FAIRVIEW
SATURDAY, APRIL 27th @ THE CEDAR CENTER in LANCASTER, CA.
w/ SUGARCULT and FARIVIEW
SUNDAY, APRIL 28th @ THE LIVERY THEATER in VENTURA, CA.
w/ YELLOWCARD and THE LAST MILE
How cool are those shows? Now a heads up on the Ventura date - the Livery is an awesome but small venue therefore there will be 2 shows - a 4pm and a 7pm. That means all you youngsters who can't go out on school nights can make the afternoon one! But... these shows will sell out and we reccomend you don't take your chances at the door - GET THEM IN ADVANCE. It's simple you go to venturamusicscene.com or blackbirdproductions.com or call 805-794-4714 for tickets. Hell go to both shows - you never know what to expect. In fact we're hooking up any fan who comes to both shows with a special gift - just bring both tickets stubs to our merch booth and we'll hook you up!
If you need more info on the shows - check our tour dates section and come hang out at the shows - they're gonna be amazing!
your ready for this weekend boys,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike
PS. Send us email... go to the contact section to get your favorite AOF member's email address and feel free to ask him personal questions about what The Army of Freshmen's van really smells like!
PPS. My tour log slack continues - I promise - I will get to it... 9insert theme music to "An Amercian Tale" here.

Yo! Yo! Yo!
The Troubadour show last night kicked ass! Thanks mucho to the AOF fans who got tickets in advance and made it in to the sold out show. Christi of the merch, Nina, Jessica, Jackie, Candice, Jessie, Sandra and more were in the house to see what I think was one of our best shows ever. To top it off we made a lot of new fans (HI to you!) and had a GREAT time with the exception of guest list drama and having our producer stuck outside. Brilliant night though. We met one of the members of The Hippos for crying out loud! Thanks to Something Corporate for the hook up and everybody at the Troub. Can't wait to back to the LA/OC area soon! Now onto...
THE SOUTH WEST TEST! That's right AOF is off on a mini tour of the south west starting this Friday! We'll be in Vegas, Tempe, Albuquerque, Dallas, Houston and more - so head over to the tour dates and check it out! By all means if you live out there - you NEED to be there and please spread the word. The shows should be small but fun and we want to see you there! If all goes well we'll be doing a MID WEST TEST in April - keep your fingers crossed!
Also... last night - we handed out copies of our new single MTV. This for now is only available at shows - so be sure to grab one! Later this month will have them available via mail - we'll let you know when.
thanks for your continued support and email us @ info@armyoffreshmen.com - we answer it all!
your friends,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike
NEWS - 2/19/2002
Thank you so much to the awesome crowd that showed up to our video shoot on Sunday! It was by far the best concert of the year and the energy the crowd brought was the reason why. Thanks to everybody for being so cool and rocking out hard for 6 straight takes of us lip synching. Our director was stoked on it and we can't thank him enough - DON BURTON ROCKS! Once the video is edited we'll have it available at shows - we'll keep you posted! The night was just perfect especially when we got that 12 year old his first kiss on stage and then had him crowd surfing to top it off. For those of you who missed it - man did you ever miss a good one! Don't make it a habit.
So this Saturday Night is the WAY big KROQ sponsored show with SOMETHING CORPORATE at The Troubadour and we are stoked to announce that it is SOLD OUT! That's right no more tickets what so ever! So if any of you were lucky enough to score tickets - we will see you there. AOF plays first so get there @ 8pm! This show is going to be huge and it'd be nice to have an AOF fan or two there amongst all the SC fans.
For all you old folks we'll be at Bombays in Ventura for an over show on Friday Night to test the Troub set. Stop by if you can.
Now... finally for tour news. Well... it's not all good. Once again for reasons beyond our control fate has conspired to keep AOF away for the fans on the east coast. What was originally planned to be a full US tour is now two small tours. "The Southwest Test" in March and "The Midwest Test" in April. Confirmed dates are up in the tour dates section for Nevada (3/1), Arizona (3/2), New Mexico (3/3) and Texas (3/8)! So if you live in any of those states start planning those road trips!
Now on a personal note to our frustated but loyal fans on the east coast (especially Philly, Jersey and New York). We are bummed and mad that we can't come out to see you next month. It boils down to a lot of things but I'll be honest and say money is a big one. So if we get a big record deal - don't call us sell outs! It'll only mean we can actually tour on the east coast more! Before you start hopping off bridges though - know this - we fully intend to see you this summer. That I can promise. Please be patient and don't forget about us! The more you spread the word the better chance we have of coming to see you. When we do - it's gonna be sick - so hang in there! (Plus if we don't make out there my mom will disown me so you can thank her next you see us!)
That's it for now - THANKS to everybody who rocked out hard on Sunday - it was a night we won't soon forget. I love how are shows feel like a big family - we are really lucky to have you. It was just a great night and such a positive experience. : > ) I'll shut up already - I'm starting to blush.
Email us @ info@armyoffreshmen.com - we want to hear from you!
your appreciative band dudes,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike
PS. Don't miss an AOF concert - pass it on! : > )

re: VIDEO SHOOT SHOW 2/17/02 in VENTURA and AOF "ON THE RADIO" 2/16/02 AVAILABLE LIVE ON THE NET)
Hey y'all!
Sorry for the slack in updates but Aaron and I were down in Louisiana tripping the live fantastic at Mardi Gras! We're back now and there is much to talk about so let's get down to the details...
This weekend is our VIDEO SHOOT show! That's right it'll be this Sunday, Feb. 17th at The Livery Theatre in Ventura. It's an all ages show that starts promptly at 7:00 pm. Also on the bill is the rocking pop punk band Mind Driver from Orange County. The Livery is located on 34 N. Palm St. which is smack dab in downtown Ventura. It's a small venue so get there early - it will be packed! Now for this video thang - during the show we will be shooting some footage for our first ever video for the song "MTV". So we need you there rocking out! It's gonna be a low budget video but we want our fans in it. So matter where you live make the trek and be in the video! For you youngsters - keep in mind it's an early show and will be over before 10pm. So you've got no excuses to miss it! If you need more info you can call 805-394-4714. It's way worth the drive cause it'll also be a full AOF headlining show.
Since we're doing a video for a song not on our record we've gotten a lot of requests for the lyrics - so for you hardcores - here they are - feel free to memorize the chorus and sing along at the show! They changed quite a bit in the studio so if you think you knew um - take a close look!
MTV
every time my parents were gone
they’d hire this baby sitter named Dawn
I’d stay up late, watch MTV
it opened up a whole new world to me
she always used to say that ever Friday
like the whole high school would go (let’s go)
over to the school’s gymnasium to bask in the rocknroll
there were mullets, hessians, skaters, jocks
new wave band geek brains
they’d all get together, dance forever
cause the music made them the same
save the last dance for me
before I pull the plug would you set me free
my life sucks it’s not the one I see on MTV, yeah
I grew up, Dawn got knocked up, MTV got huge
by the time it was my turn to rock and roll
I realized we were used
cause the fable on the cable made it able for the label
turn the table on the music scene (what?)
when you’re just 13 what the hell’s that mean
how are you supposed to know
mullets, hessians, skaters, jocks
punk rock kids with chains
they couldn’t stay together and dance forever
money made the music change
save the last dance for me
before I pull the plug would you set me free
my life sucks it’s not the one I see on MTV, yeah
it was the old rock and roll versus the new remote control
and a holy war was waged
but the billions of civilians forgot who were the villains
and the underdog died on stage
I want my MTV, yeah, yeah, but don’t it want me
save the last dance for me
before I fall apart would you set me free
I still know the way that we could
save the last dance for me
before I pull the plug would you set me free
The Real World sucks it’s not the one I see on MTV
the one I see on MTV, yeah!
Print out and repeat out loud ten million times! : > )
Also... this Saturday Night Chris and Owen will be guest hosting the radio show The Rock Revolution (95.9 in the Ventura/Santa Barbara area). Now if you don't live there - don't worry! You can go to the show's website - www.therockrevolution.com and listen on line! The show airs 10pm Pacific Time so do the math if you live elsewhere! They'll be on hosting for the full two hours and it should be a good time.
Also - if you live in Ventura County - grab a copy of the Ventura County Star today (2/15/02) and check out the AOF article in the Time Out section!
So that's that - we'll see you at the show - bring a friend or ten and as always - Thanks for your continued support!
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike
PS. Tour is coming!!! Stay tuned.

Hey Everybody!
Just got back from the studio where we mixed our new song “MTV” and we’re all really stoked on it. Next up is getting it mastered and then setting up the details for the video shoot which we will post here this week.
In other news - there’s been some changes to the tour dates in February - a couple shows were canceled (Living Room, Alehouse, Cal Poly, Sonoma) and a few were added including a Feb. 23rd date with Yellowcard and Finch in Santa Barbara! That show should be awesome and will be our last one till we go on tour in March and April!
As for that national tour - YES! It’s still happening! Where are we playing? I have no idea yet! It’s being put together by a few people but I’m told we should have most of the March dates by this weekend. We don’t really want to post any shows till they are totally confirmed. It’ll be a very low budget tour at really small venues but that should make it even cooler! We’re hoping to do at least 30 dates around the country. All the shows will be all ages! Right now I can till you this - it starts Friday March 1st in Las Vegas and ends April 28th in Ventura, CA. Once we start nailing down the dates - we’ll be asking for help in promoting the shows if you live close by - so keep checking back! We may even be propositioning for a place to stay? So if you always wanted a band to eat your food and play your video games - let us know and of course if you book shows email chris@armyoffreshmen.com
Our next show will be February 7th in Lancaster, CA. @ Savannah’s with No Motiv and Fairview! It’s our first time in Lancaster and with two great bands nonetheless - if you’re in the area – be there! For you locals - you DON’T want to miss the show at The Livery Theatre on the 17th - it’s early Sunday Night show at a really cool venue and all ages nonetheless!
So that’s what’s up? Any questions - drop us a line at info@armyoffreshmen.com We write back!
Can’t wait to get back on the road!
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike

Ok. Chain Reaction in Anaheim rocked! It was our first time there and we were blown away by how cool the people were. We got a great response from Mind Driver’s fans and we are stoked to come back to the room - looks like at the end of our national tour in April. We also did an interview for Sound Riot - we’ll let you know when that’s out. Bottom line - Chain Reaction rules.
As for that tour - it is still in the planning stages but we’re hoping to have some dates for you in the next week or two. We’re really excited to get back out there and see everyone. If you can help book an all ages show in your area email chris@armyoffreshmen.com
Right now we are back @ Orange Whip studios in Santa Barbara (where The Ataris and Nerf Herder record) doing a new song for Blue Hand Records “MTV” – so far it’s sounding like the best thing we’ve ever done. We should finish it up this week so it can be ready for the video for in February. So as you can see a lot is going on - we will keep you posted as it happens!
This Saturday, Jan. 26th we’ll be doing a local bar show (I know, I know) at Bombay’s in Ventura with US Crush - so if you’re in the area and you’re old - stop by! The show at The Living Room in Goleta has been canceled so our next all ages show is Feb. 7th in Lancaster, CA. with NO MOTIV and FAIRVIEW! Then the big show Feb. 17th in Ventura for the video!
Drop us a line at info@armyoffreshmen.com we’d love to hear from you!
your recording till midnight fools,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, One’, Mike

Hey!
BIG thanks to everybody who came out to the Troubadour show this past Tuesday! We had a great turn out and it was awesome to see so many familar faces (props to the fine people of Bakersfield for making the trek). I know I say it way too much but it means a lot. We know what a pain in the ass it is to drive around in LA and find parking let alone the fact it's a school night but you did - and for that we here at Army of Freshmen head quarters salute you!
So this Sunday (Jan. 20) is our first time ever @ CHAIN REACTION in ANAHEIM, CA. - we've been trying to get in there forever and we are stoked. Let alone it's the Mind Driver video shoot! Mind Driver is a great band we happened to meet at the show on Tuesday - so if you're in or around the Orange County area - BE THERE! We're on third but it's safe to get there at 8 - never can be too safe at shows. Contact info is on the tour dates page.
In other news right before we played in LA Tuesday - the Olympic torch passed the club! We tried to get our driver Tafffy J to tackle the torch bearer but common sense prevailed. Bummer too - it would of made great footage for the video cam. Oh well... maybe in another four years!
your brothers from another mother,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike

GREETINGS and WELCOME to 2002!
Well it must be a new year cause the website's finally been updated! I know. I know... don't let those tears of joy drop onto your keyboard.
So what's new? A bunch of new tour dates are up and our brand new bio is up too along with some other small stuff. Coming soon is a new ventings (the 2001 Jefes) and new pics! So stay tuned for that. What's new with AOF... well lot's of cool stuff. Shall we begin?
1. We are going back into the studio to record the song "MTV" in late January with Jay Ferguson (Jay produced our record) and even cooler - we are doing a video for the song in February! Once we have more details on both we will let you know but both things are very good news! Yes this means a video shoot you can be in - info coming.
2. We will be doing a few shows on the RX BANDITS tour in February - as soon as we know when and where we'll add them to the tour dates and... don't hold your breath but there is talk (at this point it's just talk) of a national AOF tour in March and April - how much would that rule!?! As details occur - you will know!
3. For all of you in the So. Cal. we need you to be at The Troubadour in Hollywood on Tuesday, January 15th - it's our first time there and we need mass support. If you live near there drop us a line and we'll let you know how you can help!
So this year is going to kick ass and we want you to be a part of it - join the bomb squad - we promise to run that better - and start spreading the good word! Also my new year's resolution is to update this news all the time - so keep coming here for the latest on AOF.
your boys for 2002,
Chris, Aaron, Owen, Dan, Oné, Mike
PS. Thank you all for your support last year. It was the best year so far for this band and we sincerely appreciate your interest in us. Means everything. Thank you so much.
