To Tour Log or Not To Tour Log!
Welcome to the final entry of the Suburban Curse Tour Log.
Well it's done. After a full month- The Suburban Curse Tour has officially wrapped up. It's now the afternoon of Sunday, Nov. 14 and we have played our last show out of state for the year. It's been nearly six months of non stop touring for AOF that's taken us to 5 countries (USA, Canada, Japan, England, Scotland) for those keeping score. I am writing this parked at a gas station in Urbana, IL. Last night's show was sensational in every way possible. A perfect night to wrap up the tour and our year of touring.
Again Lucky Boys Confusion is huge in Illinois so they ended the tour at their home away from home venue- The Canopy Club which is right outside of UOI. It's a big college town and the show was 18 and over which is really weird for us considering we pretty much play all ages shows. With that said the show was really late - 9pm start and even better- SOLD OUT! That's right last show of the tour 1,000 sold out. There was a lot of anticipation in the air- Saturday Night, packed, people clearly ready to rock. After some smaller shows recently is was amazing to have such a packed house.
Which leads to another problem. Come on you thought everything would run smooth? this is the Army of Freshmen Tour Log- tradegy is constantly around the corner. Owen wasn't at the show! Relax all is well- he had to fly home to see his family for a birthday and with it being the last day of tour we decided to still play the show without him. So before we went on we were tense. Were we gonna suck? Was the crowd gonna be into it? Would we freak out without Owen?
Well I am happy to report- we were on. The 5 of us gave everything we had and the crowd was AWESOME! Just going nuts and totally responsive. I think I was a little nervous cause people said I was cussing my brains out by I got through it foul mouthed and all. With the ankle feeling alot better I finally got to throw down a good stage dive too! It was GREAT. : > ) Easily the best or close to best night of the whole tour. Everyone else thought so too.
During LBC's set - they had a huge drum off during one song that included Kai, Dan and Mauricio and it was awesome. The crowd loved it. At the end of LBC's set all the bands joined them onstage for the last song to sing along and for the first time in his life Aaron Goldberg stage dived! They actually caught him too which was a plus. It was just that kind of night I guess.
After the show things were even cooler. The promoter let the band and some friends hang backstage till 4 in the morning! It was a packed dirty basement (think bad high school party) where everyone was partying, playing guitars and singing, talking saying goodbye, exchanging numbers- the whole nine yards. It was the type of scene you'd see in a movie. Pretty much exactly how I would of dreamed the night would go.
It was sad saying goodbye to everyone though. You really become family on a long tour. We've been with Lucky Boys every single day now for a month. Good shows, bad shows and in between. They've become close friends and knowing you're not gonna see them for a long time is a bit of a bummer. That's part of the game. Same goes for the other bands we got to tour with- Dynamite Boy, Plain White Ts, Swizzle Tree and 15 Minutes Late.
Not only that- we got to see a lot of close friends from the midwest too! Alot of people made the road trip and after making so many good friends this year it was nice to have one last night together to hang and talk. I've said it before but the Chicago area is really a home away from home for us.
So to wrap it up... it was the PERFECT NIGHT. A classic.
So now... as I write this we are heading back to Chicago to jam with a friend on drums. We'll spend the night at his house and then in the morning drive to the airport to drop Mauricio off so he can finally fly home after 3 months away from all his friends and family. Then after that we start the 48 hour drive back home to California soil for some much needed down time. We're gonna finish writing a ton of new songs we have and then play a few Cali shows in DEC. then record some new music in January!
Let's get a look at the Cast of Characters and see how they faired...
Chris- Me. Well the big change in my world is I got addicted to a dice game called C-LO. I have lost a lot of quarters to my new addiction. I am an addict. Today I was playing myself at a Taco Bell. I feel shame.
Aaron- Well Aaron was Aaron. He talked to a lot of girls- slept alot during drives in the van and developed a love for pies (not kidding).
Owen- Owen spent the better part of the month battling finances and keeping us on the road and away from all the people we owe money too- good job O. He also kept his kingdom of "I am last man to do anything" and the new one- "I wake up before everyone else and will in turn wake everyone else up."
Dan- Continued his mad quest to send more text messages than any man alive and took a nasty spill in Arizona at the Halloween show which had him limping for a bit. He also made a damn good looking Mormom and became my personal hero one night in Orlando which is a story for another log.
Kai- Well Kai got more hostile I think. I blame it on all that obscure death metal he listens too. He almost got into a stupid fight with Bobby early on and then on the second to the last night of the tour a drunk old guy kicked him int he ass. Kai proceeded to call him every name in the book and later tried and hunt him down unsuccessfully thankfully. Besides that he bought a lot of DVDs and enjoyed a good insult as much as the next guy.
Kyle The Tour Manager/Roadie- Well Kyle's early booty run came to a crashing hault and he spent the rest of the tour disgruntled cause of it. He always got the job done to his credit even if he bitched about it while getting it done- a solid guy for sure. Just way too stressed which goes back to lack of booty thing which is a sick circle the poor guy finds himself running around in. A Duck Duck Goose for the lonely if you will. : > ) Ladies keep the emails coming as love continues to elude him. Kyle@armyoffreshmen.com
Bobby The Merch Guy- Where to start. Bobby has easily provided the most interesting character of the tour. A sheer force. A big dude with a big mouth and smart sense of humor. Bobby is totally the youngest. A hothead quick to give you a Charlie Horse while spitting out Orphan Jokes, Bobby has been intense. On my deathbed I fear I will be forced to recall the site of dead drunk and buck naked Bobby on his birthday running down an Atlanta side street screaming about girls. Nor will I forget the site of him laying on a floor later that night at a party as people huck deli meat at him while he threatens to "charlie all you mamaless bitches" but is too drunk to get up. Lastly I will never forget coming back to the bed I shared with to see his massive pale white ass staring back at me and some in the morning he actually managed to blame me somehow for his mystery bout of nudity. Yes Bobby is one a kind and I totally like him. Despite all his antics- he's a loyal guy and good merch pusher.
Lastly our temp drummer Mauricio.
So let's talk about the Grease Man as we like to call him.
When things got hard for us and Mike left the band - all it took was one phone call and on a week's notice Mauricio dropped his whole life to bail us out. We've become such close friends with him and love him to death. I'm sure everyone who has met him agrees he is a great human being. A classic act. His impressions are priceless. Forget the fact he is terrible driver and almost killed all of us when he managed to almost hit the one car on an empty road... he still is great.
Thank you so much Mauricio for all you've done to help us out. We love you!
We'll keep you posted on all his developments with his own kick ass band Fall's Church and who knows... maybe his time in AOF isn't entirely over- we'll just have to wait and see! : > )
So yeah that's that. A wrap if you will. This will be the last tour log for the year. Thank you so much for reading and caring about the adventures of 6 men in a van. It's been a release for me to be able to write this. Thanks for putting up with the lack of updates and bad grammar.
But cry not my little vikings! We'll be back on the road for sure next year and don't forget the Holiday Message this December. Till then keeping checking the news for updates and show announcements, make sure you're on the mailing list to get our emails and sign up for the message board to meet other AOF fans and talk rock and lastly if you really want to help join the A TEAM - there was a big meeting yesterday with the new A TEAM Caps Sam and Dez and we've got some serious stuff coming up!
And we're starting to have a load of tour logs up- why not relive old adventures and check out some past tour logs. Lots of good stuff in there.
So please spread the word- AOF needs your love now more than ever- and we'll post a news update when we get home safely- and if of course something insane manages to happen between now and then- you can bet on Knobby's dollar you'll read about it here.
your tour log typing addicted to C-LO ready to go to bed for week frotnman,
CHRIS JAY

A Time To Tour Log!
Long time no talk. Greetings from a highway in Kentucky- we just rocked a club called Jillians and the sound was so loud my ears are still ringing.
Whats been going on?
Well in FLA. we missed a show! Boo. We were supposed to be in St. Petersburg, Florida but on the way to the show in Gainesville we popped a tire. We decided what a good time to get some work done on the van. We set up an appointment at the dealership early in the morning and low and behold the auto clerks did not start work on the van till after lunch- so after finding all sorts of new problems that we cant afford the dont finish the repairs till well after 5 leaving it way to late to make the show that was 3 hours away. Urgh... so apologies to the people of St. Pete.
In other news...
George Bush is still president. We watched it all unfold at a Whatburger in Texas. I took an onstage poll at the show- surprisingly people cheered for Bush which is ok I guess and as much as I do really like Texas if there's one state that is blindly loyal to anything remotely to do with it's state- it's Texas. That whole don't mess with Texas mentality. You don't see people from Rhode Island with bumper stickers that say... "You Won't Be Smiling If You Fuck With Rhode Island". That's all on that.
In other news...
In LA. we got to see ourselves in yet another teen mag! We are this month's issue of M Magazine. Kind of weird though... it's in the fun pages section and it's match AOF's heads with their instruments. Worth taking a look at next time your in a store. You'll laugh - trust me.
Shows have been good except Jacksonville. Urgh. We had terrible sound problems. I mean embarrasing. This put me in a bad mood and I really dont play a good show. I just wanted it to be over which is exactly how I never feel. Bound to happens sometimes. I just laid in the back of the van for half the night bumming.
Houston wasnt much better when it comes to sound problems- by far the worst sound system of the tour. I opted to start a dodge ball game mid show to make up for the fact I was singing on a broken instrument mic. Worked out ok.
Now Orlando was more like it. Best crowd since Anaheim and good sound. What a cool town too- after the show EVERYBODY headed to a bar next door and I had a REALLY great time. Got to spend some quality time talking to the guys in the other bands. I really have come to like Dynamite Boy and the fact it's their last tour is really sad - they're story is a good example of what's wrong with the music industry which is another story altogether. Point is catch them before they call it quits for good in April.
As for Atlanta it will always be remembered for the night Bobby the Merch Guy turned 20 years old. Not only did turn 20 but he got drunker than any man should be allowed. How drunk you ask? Well let's just his night involved nudity, pee, lunch meat throwing, destroying someone's apartment and various threats of pooping on people. It's a tale so stirring and cautionary- it needs it's own log which will be written before we get home.
Got to make some great new friends that we stayed with in Atlanta who probably no longer will be our friends after Bobby played Bull in a China shop in their apartment.
So the tour is winding down- so is nearly 6 months of non stop touring for Army of Freshmen. I look forward to chilling for a bit. Sleeping in my own bed for a while. Playing a handful of shows in Cali. Eating at my fave restuarants. Finishing up the new songs we're working on. Speaking of new songs- we've been writing alot. Want some titles?
"World's Permission"
"I Told It To You Yesterday"
"Talk of the Town"
I am digging on all of the- we'll see what makes the cut.
Regardless it'll be a weird feeling to be stationary for so long. Two shows left and Sat. is the last one in IL. It should be a night to remember. LBC is so huge there and after such a long tour- everyone is expecting it to go off. I imagine a full night of partying to revival the best of the best. I am excited. I need a good night of rocking out with everyone - itll be sad saying goodbye- we've been out now for a month with LBC and are all really close- good good people.
With that said- look for a new log on SUN/MON where I will recap Bobby's druken escapade (worth thr wait) and the final night of the tour!
your tired, sore Kentucky van man,
CHRIS JAY
PS. Bobby says hi and says dont write anything about birthday... as if. : > )
Tour Log, 11/2/2004
Tour Loggy Log!
Greetings from the dark desert highways of Arizona as we speed towards our date with destiny in Texas! Since we last left off- things have been crazy... we've got 12 shows left on tour that takes us through TX, LA, FL, GA and back towards the midwest- so here's another adventure!
I present to you...
Food Posion, Near Toe Decapitation and Mormom Halloweens!
Well I dont know where to start really but... let's take it from San Diego. We all knew going in California would be slower than the great slam dunk shows in the Midwest and we were right but we sill got to see some great friends and have good time. After one night at home we went down to San Diego and crashed at a friend's house. All that day I was feeling a little wacked out in the stomach but I took some medicine and managed. Well we woke up the next day and Kai was feeling terrible- let's just say he was making a few more bathroom trips than is cool before noon. Well we took off north to Anaheim for the big show at Chain Reaction with Lucky Boys and Melee and not 15 minutes into the drive- Kai needs to pull over- the man is not looking good. Then right there on the side of the sunny crowded San Diego freeway- to put it bluntly- he PUKES.
He then hops in the van (we give him his bench of course) and from what we could make of his grunting- he needed to get to a gas station stat.
So we get to a gas station- poor Kai had to wait in sick traffic and we precede to spend the next hour- waiting from him to "find himself".
Meanwhile in AOF LAND....
Mauricio is starting to feel sick. He wanders behind the gas station and to again put it bluntly- PUKES!
So let's recap- we got not one but two band members yuking.
What's going on?
Instantly- we think flu- oh no... that means we're all in danger- in the middle of a stinking tour- not to mention that the van after two weeks of 9 people's filth- is a pretty much a germ wonderland. Panic strikes- the FLU is after AOF!
Well we pull the vomit twins in the ride and take off towards Anaheim running way late.
We roll up to the show just in time and start laoding in- suddenly as I'm working on merch- Owen comes running in...
"We got a big problem- we need you outside NOW!"
So- I go out.
Turns out Mauricio is now throwing up in an Arby's parking lot and Kai... well Kai since we got to the club has passed out and hit his head on the concrete twice- Dan was currently babysitting him at Dennys while he... you guessed it... PUKED some more!
With Kai incapable of walking we decided to that we'd have to cancel. This is the first time AOF has ever had to cancel due to sickness but for Kai's safety we did. It sucked but we had to do it. A HUGE apology to everyone who showed up to see us. If there was anyway- I promise we would of rocked it.
On the plus side- we all got to home early but I felt really bad for everyone that showed up. We did get to spend sometime outside with everyone- and I even got some belated birthday gifts. : > ) I love our fans/friends!
Well the big question of course was... would Kai and Mauricio be ok to play the next day in Lancaster and then drive all night to Pheonix for the Halloween show? Would we all be coming down with the flu?
Well turns out it wasnt the flu- Kai and Mauricio were totally fine the next day. Go figure- we have officially chalked it up to food poisoning. Kai has sworn off Dominos for eternity.
So played Lancaster the next night which was totally confusing one of those venue changes- from Mexican Restuarant to a Pool Hall, promoter changes, last minute, sets run too long, line up change, cluster fuck situations that left us playing way too late on a night when everyone was at Halloween parties. They did have free drinks and catering and a nice staff and the bathroom flooded which is enough to get through any show.
Then again with not a day off in our home state- we were froced to hop in the van and keep charging. I'll admit- our asses are pretty kicked. We've been on the road roughly for 6 straight months and it is taking a toll.
I started to feel awful during the night so I slept all the way to Arizona in the back.
Ah the back- I love the back. The only place in the van where a man can get a good nights sleep. As I write this I am sharing bench 2 with Kai and hating life. I'm sure I'll get no sleep sitting up.
Anyways... the Halloween show! Guess what we were? Mormoms!
That's right- we all got black pants, short sleeve shorts, name tags, slicked back hair and played the first two songs in Mormom character. Kai was the best. It was really funny- I wish there was video but we got a few pictures. After two songs we gave up the bit and rocked and LBC started a pit in their oversized sumo costumes.
There was a lot of drinking and a fun time for all- unfotunately a lot of our younger fans couldnt make it with a Halloween on a Sunday but the girls dressed up in 80s Valley Girl outfits did the trick and some Lancaster posse made the drive which was really cool of them.
Which brings me to the highlight of the story- the near Toe Decapitation!
After the show a few guys left early to go back to the hotel leaving Me, Owen, Bobby, Dan and Kyle.
As we left we got stuck in a back alley. it was totally dark and everyone had left - the trailer and van simply could not get through the alley- it was a really weird angle. We decided that the best bet was to unhitch the trailer and with the strength of of 5 men move it slightly so it could be in the position to reattach it and sneak through.
Well as you can imagine- easier said then done. The trailer is heavy as shit and we can barely move it.
ONE TWO THREE!
An inch.
ONE TWO THREE!
AN inch.
ONE TWO THREE!
Then suddenly a terrible scream.
It's Kyle.
We look down the trailer - all thousands of pounds is on his foot.
Time stands still.
It crosses my mind in a split second... he has just had a trailer dropped on his foot. He probably has lost his toes.
We just crippled our roadie.
Now keep in mind this is in a split second.
Then Kyle yells...
"I'm OK!"
Turns he had his toes curled. The trailer has pinned the top of shoe to the ground missing his toes my a milimeter.
He is stuck.
Once we realize he is ok- we all have a good laugh and the get the camera. Kyle the roadie's foot is pinned to the ground.
It was a close one. Hell of a picture though.
We finally get the van out and back to the hotel.
I hop into the bed and am intent on getting a good nights sleep- as Bobby the Merch Man announces he's going to party.
A little too hard I guess.
That morning I got up to use the bathroom and on the way back to the bed that I was sharing with Bobby- I came back to a horrible site...
Bobby's Unclothed White Ass staring back at me.
The man was sleeping in the buck! A total tour no no. He got so loaded "somehow" his pants fell off. That means I have now slept next next to a half naked man. Urgh...
Nothing like waking up to a nightmare. I chalked it up as a rough couple of days.
THE END
What's up next for our heros of grass roots rock and roll? How bout being in Texas on election day- that's enough to scare anyone. Go Vote!

Time to Tour Log!
Greetings from a friends house in San Diego. What weather here- best in the world.
I think I am getting sick. Woke up to a bit of a head cold and voice is going. Of course it's on the biggest night of the Cali shows- Anaheim. Urgh... I will fight through it. Dayquil and all.
Great to be back home! Got to sleep in my own bed after Bakersfield. Tonight we can crash at home again then it's off after the Lancaster show to finish the rest of the tour- which actually has quite a few more dates- 2 whole weeks. No looking forward to being in TX. on election day. Yikes!
Trying to sneak a hair cut in somewhere. Hoping for Sat. Morning- the fro is on the go!
Tune into Joan of Arcadia tonight! "No Engine" will be played at some point in the episode. We'll be playing exactly when it's on which sucks but oh well- some will tape it.
I got next shower so I'm off- more soon!
CHRIS soon to shower JAY

Tonight I Present Tour Log!
Welcome to tour log Numero 3. Sorry I've been slacking... It's been pretty crazy, show, drive, show, drive... we have way too many people in the van that's made for some uncomfortable drives and not a lot of sleep but all is well...
I'm backstage at a club in Sacramento right now. Looking to be a slow night and you know why... Good Charlotte is also in town!
What is it with these guys?
After the show we're on the list so we are gonna leave here and head over to catch the end of their show and say hi.
As for the shows so far- they've been great! Even Oregon and Washington which we worried would be slow since LBC isn't as well known on the coasts went great and we saw a lot of familar faces from Warped.
San Fran was at club called the The Pound which was at the end of the peirs and quite frankly was a scary area but alot of friends came especially cool since it was a Monday Night.
We drive all night tonight to Bakersfield for an acoustic performance in the morning on the radio and then the show that night after that- we get to spend a night at home in our beds!!!!
YEAH!
Then we wake right up and head to San Diego but looks like we'll have one or two nights in our own bed.
I miss home.
Got some shit news from back home today. Hearing about tragedy while your on the road is a weird ass feeling. You feel really far away from it. Like your in some bubble.
Do me a favor- don't FUCKING kill yourself. I assure you leave the people who love you back home alot worse then you feel at the time.
Ok... no more emotional blogs from me.
I'll throw up a good tale soon- now I am going to catch the opening band cause if I was an opening- I want them to catch me.
Do unto others as you would like done unto yourself.
With that said... buy me a beer
Oh wait- Aaron just walked in- say hi Aaron!
Hi everyone! Ok, we're in Orangevale or somewhere near Sacramento, at a club in which there are 35 people waiting to see the show. It just so happens that Good Charlotte is playing across town so 35 is a great turnout. We're actually gonna go say hi after our show, thank Billy for the excellent Level 27 gear and hopefully catch a glimpse of the twins (god they're so sexy). Other than that, things have been great. The Plain White T's are amazing and Lucky Boys Confusion have been excellent. I got to take a shower this morning, so that's always a good thing (I also brushed my teeth mom), and then I ate some amazing pizza and had a Jamba Juice (they're freaking addicting). I kinda feel like a weirdo when I order those drinks though. It's like... "I'll have the rooty tooty fresh and fruity banana rama ding dong with a femme boost." Ok, I'll leave you with that, this has been fun, bye everyone.
Well that was Aaron... : >) Nice of him to drop by.
talk to you all soon!

Tommy The Tour Log!
I LOVE THE MIDWEST!
I do. I do. We've done the first 6 shows of the tour and they have just been incredible! Lucky Boys is just huge out here. We've seen so many old faces and made a lot of new friends. My theory on the midwest is that people just appreciate music a bit more- they're not as jaded. They dont get as many good shows as someone living on the west or east coast so when they go to a show- they go to rock! That's not to say that everyone on the coasts are jaded but go to a show in LA and then go to the same show in Chicago and tell me which one you had more fun at.
So... yeah...so far so great!
We were a little tired in Minnesota but we started to pick up the next night in Miwaukee (two towns we've never really played in) and then all hell broke loose in Chicago. The House of Blues show was sold out and awesome. House of Blues are my favorite places to play and this one didnt let me down. Our own private dressing room in the backstage maze- unlimited drinks and food, great sound, and most importantly THE CROWD was awesome. I look at Chicago as a real home away from home - we have alot of friends there and the crowd is just always so into it.
We had to get to town early to do an interview on a local video show called JBTV that was awesome. They've been playing our video and invited us to co host the show. The guy who runs is this mega pimp who's been on the air for years and has had EVERYONE on the show including my faves They Might Be Giants- not too shabby- it airs in the IL. area and we'll let you know when it airs.
Now back to the show...
I actually had some nerves flowing- which is rare... something about that big ass curtain being on stage behind it and knowing there is 1,300 people on the other side is intimidating. We were a little sloppy early on but by the end of the show it was a prety great feeling to have the entire floor of House of Blues pogoing and singing Get Um Up at the top of their lungs. Not to mention crowd surfers- mission accomplished!
It was a night to remember indeed. After the show there was a private party on the top floor bar called the Foundation Room. After wandering the venue (you wouldn't believe how crazy it is) i checked out the party and actually had a good time- I'm not one for "bars" per say but there was alot of cool people there and got to make some new friends.
All in all it was the perfect day and perfect show. One of my all time faves. Big thanks to Lucky Boys for letting us share their hometown moment.
Next day extremely tired and a bit hung over we traveled into the suburbs of IL. to practice in the basement of a house with a good friend of ours who is a drummer. It was surreal to have been at House of Blues 12 hours early and now playing on a crap PA in the basement of a kid's house- but I guess that's the beauty of Army of Freshmen. it was really good practice though and it was nice to take a shower at a house as opposed to a club or hotel.
I love going to someone's house in a regular neighborhood. I think not living close to my family now for years- I miss that and always really like just being in a neighborhood with kids on the street and basements and house parties in the winter.
Speaking seasons- we are actually seeing some good fall out here. I love the fall and was bummed the tour didnt go to the east coast- best place for fall in the world but still seeing some good foliage... : > )
Friend back in Cali: How's the tour going bro? Seeing any naked chicks?
Me: No... but you shoulda seen this tree in Wisconsin! Colored leaves were falling everywhere- it was so hot! I took a pic.
I think I need help... : > )
anyways after the jam session... we headed up to Madison, WI. for a sold out 18 and over show- (go Lucky Boys) I thought we were really on fire at. Sometimes you just feel it. Cool club too with a bar attached to it. Had a good time until the end of the night when our van wouldnt start- luckily after a long battle it got up and running.
My real highlight of the night was ordering a chicken sandwich and going to the beat up basement dressing room and watching the Simpsons by myself as the bits of theceiling fell around me as people pogoed upstairs to Lucky Boys. Would of made a good picture. I miss the Simpsons alot. They are like therapy.
Got to stay at really nice Marriot courtesy of message boarder masters- Dez and Sam who went above and beyond by getting us two rooms at a Marriot- it was an amazing bed and the best 5 hours of sleep- I've had in a while. I cant name everyone whose brought us stuff at the past few shows but thank you so very much. As I write this I am resting a pillow with my name sewed into it that I got in WI. and I couldnt but more thankful for everyone's support.
After that it was a VERY long drive down to St. Louis which we barely made arriving at doors. I blame the duo of destruction Kyle and his new accomplice Bobby. No directions, u turns, wrong turns, 30 min batroom breaks, please email kyle@armyoffreshmen.com with threats if he doesnt get AOF on time to the show you're going to.
Speaking of Kyle his dictator like tour manager vibe grows- soon we'll have to appeal to the United Nations of Rock to crush him.
Also speaking of Kyle he hooked with a girl the first night of tour!!! The kid's a kissing fool these days.
St. Louis was cool- at first I know the audience didnt know what to make of us but by the end they were totally going for it- I love combat rock nights like that- kill or be killed.
Then it was off to Omaha, NE. to play the Ranch Bowl- a club that is attached to a bowling alley. Before the show Dan, Owen, Aaron, Kai and I rolled some games- Owen is the best bowler. Go Owen! Dan is a close second.
I put up a good fight at bowling till I got bored and tried to roll two balls at the same time and got in trouble- the machine jammed and I got yelled at by a lady. I hate getting yelled at. I was just trying to take the game to the next level. Damn those who hold back visionaries. This is the same kind of bitch that would of told Edison to get a job.
So as I write this today is our first day off but not for us- we are taking a detour and playing our first ever radio sponsored show in Wichita, KS. of all places! Turns out a station here has been really playing GET UM UP and has asked us to play a show. We are on our way to the station right now to do an interview and then an over 21 show tonight... bummer too but it's all they could get on a Monday. We just cant believe a station asked us to play a show!
The radio assault officially begins- so when your done reading this please head over to our radio request page and make a few calls and send a few emails. It really is the best thing you can do for us right now!
Wish us luck and we'll talk to ya soon!
Send in them emails to info@armyoffreshmen.com
your about to do a radio interview frontman,

WELCOME TO THE SUBURBAN CURSE TOUR LOG!
Greetings once again from the road!
I'll be honest- these tour logs are getting tough to do. Not that I don't like to do them, in fact I really enjoy it but between hunting down internet access and then finding it and only having it for limited amounts of time or having ten million things to do or being dead tired or etc... my God I'm bitching about touring- oh no- I've becoming Yellowcard! Wait a minute I can't say that... that wasn't me. I'll blame someone else... how bout... Aaron. Yeah Aaaron! He has kidnapped the tour log. Bastard!
Let's get down to details! We are yet again back on the road!
Quick Recap...
We were in Japan for 3 weeks in May... came home for 3 weeks, played alot in Cali including our CD Release... then We left on Warped Tour... we left June 20th got back Sept. 1 home for 2 weeks then we left for our first ever UK Tour Sept. 17 to Oct. 8 leaving us home for exactly one day (don't forget jet lag) before we hopped back into the van to drive over 30 straight hours to Minneapolis to start the Suburban Curse Tour with Lucky Boys Confusion on OCT. 12
So what can we gather from that? Were Friggin tired! Yes the hard boiled rock and roll egg that is AOF has been going pretty balls to the walls for the past 6 months. We are out there every day fighting for our lives trying to make this band happen.
With that said a big thanks to everyone who has helped us along the way. From friends to family to fans so many people have been helpful and supportive and it truly means so much. Last night two friends/fans brought 3 massive bags of helpfull goodies off the list on our site and it literally made our night. Everything and anything is helpful.
Now with that said I know some of you are reading this and you've yet to buy Beg, Borrow, Steal. This folks is the best way to help us out. Go to your local store and buy the record- if they don't have it order it. If that's too much... order it online. I ask that. I'm turning all PBS on you but if you'd like to keep good qaulity programing alive like the AOF Tour Log then do your part and buy the record! We'll even through a Peter, Paul and Mary DVD. : > ) That's really funny if you get it.
So anyways... here we are another tour! What's new with this one to keep your eye on?
1. We are going for radio! Yes that's right there is an actual small campaign to get "Get Um Up" on the air- please check our site for more info and request that mofo at your local station! So with that said there are a few brave stations across the USA playing the song! Good for the little guy and we are LITTLE! That means that througout the tour there will be a few times where we actually visit radio stations and sometimes play acoustic on the air- God help us! These should at the least make for good tour logs. Already we know we will be appearing on air in Witchita, Salt Lake, Bakersfield and Tallahasse. Hopefully more- hell if you can set up an interview on your local station- do it!
2. We have been in magazines. Who knows how much that helps but... we have gotten our first ever national press- in TEEN Mags! I know I know but I dont care- I'm glad someone cares period- we have been in BOP and J-14 which are both out now- pick um up before they go! Word has it M Magazine will be doing an article soon too so be on the look out for that. Also after years of waiting Alternative Press has reviewed our new record and it was a good review. Considering how brutal they can be on smaller bands- I was stoked. So what does this all mean? I have no idea. But I walked into a truck stop in Wyoming yesterday and opened up a teen mag and saw my face and I was stoked to see a dashing young man. Then I went to take a piss and looked in the mirror and saw a unshaven, working the acne, bags under the eyes ugly dude... go figure. Guess what I am trying to say is we have more exsposure on this tour than past ones so hopefully that will help.
4. The order has come down from high that we also must start writing songs for the next record- writing on thr road is hard- wish us luck.
3. New characters! Now we all enjoyed the adventures of Kyle the Roadie this past summer and his face first in the crapper love life. For those who wanted the Story of How He Fell in Love well that's been classified so apologies but it's been locked away for 3 years but we do have a cast of new faces in the wonderful world of AOF...
With us again is "Kyle the Roadie"... who is now more like a Patton style Kyle the Road Manager but let's face it- he's still Kyle the Roadie to us. So speaking of his love life... last night in MN. the first night mind you- after everyone had left we sat outside of the van waiting to get it... why you ask? Cause Kyle the Roadie was in the van making out with a girl! I know. I know. Not a one of us even talking to a member of the fairer sex but Kyle is getting his kiss on in our ride- I guess alot has changed in 3 months. To be fair- we set him up... but thats another story. : > ) Email Kyle future hook up options and bag on him not being able to beat Chris at Jeopordy or air hockey at kyle@armyoffreshmen.com
Kyle in turn has convinced us to bring along his homie "Bobby the Merch Man" to help out. This means Bobby is now in the van (not to mention he's twice the size of Kyle) bringing the total to 8 meaning we have no space at all- it's crammed as hell and uncomfortable too. But Bobby is a swell guy who talks politics and porno all in the same breath so you got to give him credti for that. Discuss your favorite canidates and sex positions at Bobbyah2x@yahoo.com FYI he is a staunch Democrat and homosexual. I'll let you guess which one I lied about.
Also along is the mighty Mauricio the Drummer Boy! I know many of you have already met Mauricio who has been filling in for us on drums since after Warped Tour. Mauricio is a very quiet but really nice guy from Washington, DC. who picked up his life put he equally rocking band Falls Church on hold and let us kidnap him. When the rock called, the Mauricio answered. Forced to learn our songs with little to no time- he's done a great job and is doing this tour with us before he heads back home to DC. That's unless along the way we force him to stay at gun point! : > ) Please drop him a line and make him feel welcome hellorabbitt@yahoo.com
Who could forget about everyone else...
Kai- cookie loving, stops at every record store, takes long showers, reads Harry Potter constantly, Stars Wars tattooed bass player. Kai@armyoffreshmen.com
Owen- the book keeping, last man in the van, tie wearing, free beer seeking keyboard player. Owen@armyoffreshmen.com
Dan- the make up wearing, computer genius, ocasionally grumpy, game loving, single and friendly moog man. Dan@armyoffreshmen.com
Aaron- the lady loving, lazy, girl hand writing, ugly sun glass wearing guitar dude. Aaron@armyoffreshmen.com
and me... the Tour Log keeping, still recovering from a sprained ankle frontman. Chris@armyoffreshmen.com
Last night was the first show in Minneapolis and we were pretty tired to be honest didnt feel as good as I did at the last couple Uk shows with Soup but tonight we will be back to form and we are getting ready to play with Lucky Boys in some of their bigest markets- these will prolly be the biggest shows of the tour- HOUSE OF BLUES! : > ) so we are stoked.
So that's what's up. Hopefully I can update alot and add a few adventures here and there. Till then were filling out postcards from the UK.
we're speeding off to Milwaukee for night 2 of the tour- it's gonna be a long crazy month... spread the word and we'll see you at the shows!
